Peer Support Group Hiatus
Hi folks! We've decided to go on a brief hiatus for our Peer Support Group so we can focus on building and expanding other support resources for the community.
We will have no Peer Support Group meetings until further notice.
The Teddy Bear Brigade (aka TEN Crochet Group) will continue to meet every Sunday.
In addition, we are exploring the option of either moving the Peer Support Group meeting location to one that is more centrally located in the region — or hosting one meeting in Fayetteville and one in Bentonville, Rogers, or north Springdale. We would love to have your input via direct message or email to transequalitynetwork@gmail.com. Thank you.

Please Join us for TEN's Transgender Peer Support Group
What is a Peer Support Group?
Things are rough out there, but we are stronger together. Whether you need someone to listen to your grievances, celebrate your wins, want others to let you know that you are valid, or want to help support others, please join us for TEN's Transgender Peer Support Group.
As a peer support group we do not have a rigid structure and a professional leader during groups, but rather follow a basic format where we first share a meal (provided, no charge) and socialize, and then usually have a good hour of discussion.
Is PSG for you?
Chances are, if you are reading this, we are definitely ready to welcome you to our Peer Support Group.
Our primary focus is upon anyone whose gender identity does not match their gender assumed at birth, but our scope includes anyone that is trans feminine, trans masculine, non-binary, genderfluid, two spirit, intersex, gender non-conforming, or anywhere on the path of self exploration about their gender identity.
We also welcome supportive family and friends and, upon pre-approval, anyone that is cisgendered but desires to be a better ally to the greater transgender community of NW Arkansas. Just like the wider trans* community, our attendees are a diverse group ranging in age from high school-age teens to retirees.
Group size fluctuates throughout the year — it tends to be highest in the fall as students return to the U of A and lowest in the summer — but expect anywhere from 5 to 20 attendees at any given session — at least one of which will be a member of the board of directors at TEN.
Your identity and participation in Peer Support Group is held in strict confidence.
When and Where?
We meet in a multipurpose room located at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at 2925 Old Missouri Rd in Fayetteville on the first and third Thursdays of every month from 6:30pm until 8pm. Enter through the office doors located at the southeastern part of the building. We have signage that is visible on nights that we meet to help you locate us.
While we do meet at Good Shepherd we are not affiliated with any religious organization, and people with any and all (or no) religious belief system are welcome to attend. The pastor and congregation at Good Shephard are very welcoming to all gender presentations and identities.
RSVP Requested
We do request that you RSVP to our Peer Support Group so that we can prepare an adequate amount of food for the meal. You may do so by emailing transequalitynetwork@gmail.com, using our contact page, or by direct messaging us via our Facebook page.
About Us
The Transgender Equality Network’s purpose is to help create and empower transgender-inclusive communities. We value intersectional justice, constructive communication, and collective healing for all people. We aim to develop healthier communities by promoting visibility and providing resources, education, and advocacy. See this page for more about our founding and vision.
We are an entirely volunteer-run organization, with a large majority of our volunteers and board members themselves being transgender people — and are organized as a 501c(3) non-profit corporation. Our major events include Transgender Day of Visibility and Transgender Day of Remembrance, but we are actively working on expanding our reach to fulfill our mission of empowering transgender-inclusive communities.
We hope to see you at our next session!
Interested in Volunteer Opportunities?
As a fully volunteer organization we are always open to folks that want to contribute their time and skills to our mission. Please see this page for a little more information, and reach out by emailing transequalitynetwork@gmail.com, using our contact page, or by direct messaging us via our Facebook page. Thank you!
