The Meaning Behind the Tree:
The sakura tree has many representations in life. One of these representations is the nature of life and empathy towards all things. Unlike sakura trees, our tree blooms in multiple colored blossoms. It bears pink, white and blue blossoms. These flowers represent the trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming people in our community who have transitioned or who are living as their true selves. The buds represent those who are transitioning, those who feel unsafe or who are unable to gain the resources they need to transition or live as themselves. The branches and leaves represent the network of people, resources and allies that are needed for trans people to be who they are. They falling leaves represent the abiding tragedy of our community; all the trans lives that have been taken from us and we continue to lose.
